Our Freedoms
In this sermon, Pastor Will invites us to explore the profound freedoms we possess as followers of Christ, freedoms that transcend even the political liberties we celebrate as Americans. Drawing from 1 Peter 2:16, we're reminded to "live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God." Pastor Will challenges us to examine four critical responses to our spiritual freedom: gratitude for the gift of freedom, boldness in approaching God through prayer, vigilance against misusing our liberty for selfish purposes, and faithful stewardship of these freedoms to serve others. We discover that true freedom isn't about doing whatever we want whenever we want—it's about being liberated from sin and death through Christ's sacrifice. This freedom allows us to worship boldly like David, pray with sincere hearts, serve sacrificially as Jesus modeled, and share the gospel without shame. Pastor Will confronts our tendency to take freedom for granted or weaponize it against others, whether we're judging those in the pride movement or struggling with road rage toward camper drivers. Instead, we're called to use our freedom as an opportunity to love our neighbors, check our hearts for sincerity, and become living testimonies that draw others to Christ. The ultimate purpose of our freedom is not self-gratification but advancing God's kingdom and helping others discover the liberating power of the gospel.
