Day 3 - The Character of God's Forgiveness

Colossians 3:12-15 paints a vivid picture of what it looks like to be clothed in the character of God. Tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience are not personality traits we are born with. They are garments we choose to put on. And the text makes clear that these garments are worn in the context of real relationships, with real offenses, and real pain. The instruction to forgive is grounded not in our feelings but in what God has already done for us. He pardoned us graciously, removed our moral liability, and reconciled the relationship. That is the standard and the source. We forgive not from our own reserves, but from the overflow of what we have already received.
