Day 1 - The Seeds We Plant in our Hearts

Aug 24, 2026

The story of Cain and Abel is not simply a story about two brothers. It is a mirror held up to every human heart. Cain did not wake up intending to commit murder. He walked to worship alongside his brother, shoulder to shoulder. But when sinful anger took root and went unchecked, it grew into something catastrophic. God asked Cain a penetrating question: "Why are you so angry?" That same question echoes toward us today. What seeds are you allowing to take root in your heart? Sinful anger, contempt, and bitterness do not stay small. They grow, they speak, and eventually they act. Ask the Holy Spirit today to search your heart and reveal any seeds that need to be uprooted before they bear destructive fruit.

Reflection Questions:

- What emotions have you allowed to go unchecked recently?

- Is there a relationship in your life where contempt has begun to replace compassion?

- What would it look like today to take those thoughts captive before they take root?
