Day 2 - The God Who Offers Peace

Aug 25, 2026

In John 14:27, Jesus declares that He leaves His peace with His followers -- a peace unlike anything the world can manufacture or sustain. The world offers peace as the temporary absence of conflict. Jesus offers peace as a settled condition of the heart regardless of external circumstances. This is why Paul, writing from prison, could speak of a peace that surpasses understanding. Yet as the sermon reminds us, peace must be allowed to rule in our hearts. It is not passive. It is a daily, deliberate choice to release anxiety, surrender control, and trust the God who holds all things. Peace is not the absence of difficulty. It is the presence of Christ in the middle of it.

Reflection Questions:

- In what areas of your life are you refusing to let peace rule?

- What would it look like practically to surrender one source of anxiety to God today?

- How does the peace Jesus offers differ from what you have been seeking?
