Day 3 - The Heart Behind the Theft

Aug 5, 2026

Stealing is rarely just about taking something that does not belong to you. At its root, it is a heart that has concluded that God cannot be trusted to provide. When we manipulate a time card, avoid a debt, or withhold what we have promised, we are declaring through our actions that we must compensate for what God will not supply. Jesus made clear that what comes out of a person reflects what is inside. The act of theft, in any of its many forms, is simply the outward evidence of an inward distrust of God. Guarding your heart is not optional. It is the beginning of every right action you will ever take.

Reflection: What form of stealing, whether of time, money, integrity, or spiritual gifts, are you most prone to?

Practical Application: Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal one area where your actions have been driven by distrust of God. Confess it and choose one concrete step toward honesty and trust this week.
