Day 2 - All Authority Belongs to God

Scripture is clear that no authority exists apart from God's sovereign appointment. This is not a comfortable truth. It confronts our desire to approve or disapprove of those placed over us. Daniel reminds us that God gives authority even to the lowest of people to accomplish purposes far beyond our understanding. When we resist authority, we are not merely pushing back against a person or an institution. We are pushing back against the God who appointed them. Submission to authority is ultimately an act of submission to God Himself, and that changes everything about how we respond.

Reflection: Is there an authority in your life that you have been resisting? What does that resistance reveal about your trust in God?

Practical Application: Pray specifically for one authority figure you find difficult to be around, asking God to reveal His purpose in placing them there.
