Day 2 - Honor as Obedience

May 12, 2026

Honoring your father and mother isn't about whether they were perfect parents—it's about obeying God's design for family. This commandment comes with a promise: "that it may go well with you." We honor our parents because God said so, because we're respecting His blueprint for human relationships. Even if your parents weren't godly, even if they failed you, honoring them honors the structure God created. This isn't weakness; it's obedience. The same principle applies to our Heavenly Father. We don't honor Him with our lips while our hearts remain far from Him. True honor flows from sincere hearts that recognize God knows us better than we know ourselves. Today, consider: Are you honoring God's design in your relationships, or just going through the motions?

Reflection:

1. Peter warned against 'playing Christian' and emphasized that sincerity in faith is revealed through thoughts, words, and actions. What specific areas of your life might reveal a gap between professing faith and living it authentically?
