Day 19 - Power to be Witnesses for Jesus

Today's Scripture

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”

Reflect on the Word

For many of us, the idea of sharing our faith can often make us nervous and shy. But God promises to give us supernatural power to be His witnesses, across the street and around the world. Isn’t it a relief we don’t need to rely on our own strength?

Instead, we rely on the Holy Spirit to give us the boldness we need at just the right time and in just the right context. Although we don’t know if our words will be received, being an empowered witness for Christ is not determined by our preconceived idea of a successful outcome.

We are called and promised to be empowered to share the Good News of how Jesus is moving in our lives, and how He can do the same in the lives of others.

When the Holy Spirit stirs in you to share about the miraculous power of God, get ready to also be filled with supernatural boldness. It’s exciting to join in on the work the Holy Spirit is already doing!

Prayer + Contemplation

1___ Ask God to fill you afresh with His power today, to overcome fear and embolden you to be a witness of the Good News of Jesus.

2___ Pray for those in your own unique world who are far from God, and ask God to give you the words to say.

3___ Pray for those who are called to the ends of the earth as witnesses, that God would give them opportunity, favor and safety.
