Community and Country
"Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful" (Col 3:14-15).
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior (1 Tim 2:1-3).
It is very important that we lift up the men and women in our city government, the mayor’s office, the commission, and all elected officials and certainly those who put themselves in harm’s way like law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS workers.
Pray for those who are in the offices that govern this community and county and that they make wise and godly decisions which are always in the best interests of our community.
Pray for our mayors, city councils, county commissioners, police chiefs, judges, and all who serve our local communities that they would be strengthen with wisdom and grace for the heavy burdens they carry.
Pray for all in authority over our land and ask the Lord that He would lead and guide the decisions they are to make. Ask that those in leadership positions would be given the wisdom and ability to address all that is looming on the home-front at this present time. Pray for grace to govern according to God’s will, and that they may not be motivated by self-interest, greed or party politics, but rather may they be led to guide our state onto the path of peace and safety that only comes from the Lord.
